Pianist and singer Jimmy Rowles appears on the short-lived Canadian television show Oscar Peterson and Friends.

Pianist and vocalist Jimmy Rowles was born on August 19th, 1918 in Spokane, Washington.

During the 1940s, he played with a number of acclaimed swing musicians, including Lester Young, Benny Goodman and Tommy Dorsey.

In the 1950s, he became known as a respected and highly demanded session player, appearing on record with numerous artists on a wide variety of labels.

He is perhaps best known for his work with jazz vocalists Billie Holiday and Peggy Lee.

The episode opens with a swinging rendition of "On Green Dolphin Street" by Peterson. Rowles then sits down for an interview and a performance – including a one-of-a-kind piano duet with Oscar Peterson.
