Why were we "off the air" for eight hours Thursday?

We're back up and running and I wish I could tell you what happened, but I don't know. However, I do know we'll be getting a bill from my programmer for putting things right.

If anyone feels inclined to chip in and help with this extraordinary expense (about two weeks net revenue up in smoke), we'd appreciate it. Every little bit helps a lot.

Pat Metheny, guitar
Billy Higgins, drums
Joshua Redman, tenor sax
Christian McBride, bass

About Billy Higgins:

Born October 11, 1936 and died May 3, 2001.

He was born and grew up in Los Angeles, California. He was the drummer on Ornette Coleman's early records starting with the Contemporary sides in 1958.

Later as a freelancer he was much in demand playing with Donald Byrd, Dexter Gordon, Grant Green, Joe Henderson, Milt Jackson, Jackie McLean, Pat Metheny, Hank Mobley, Thelonious Monk, Lee Morgan, David Murray, Art Pepper, Sonny Rollins, Mal Waldron, and Cedar Walton.

He served as the house drummer for Blue Note in the 1960s.

This tune is from Metheny's Song X album a collaboration he did with Ornette Coleman. Coleman's music had an early and massive influence on Metheny's approach.
