That being said, three very important musicians. The performance was recorded in 1927. The tune "Singin' the Blues (Til My Daddy Comes Home) was first recorded in 1920 by the Original Dixieland Jazz Band.

Algiers, Louisiana-born (call it New Orleans) Lester Young says that Frank Trumbauer gave him a model to follow for approaching the saxophone. Before Trumbauer the saxophone was pretty much just a "novelty" instrument.
