We just got news of the recent passing of Buddy Defranco, the famous bebop clarinetist.

Buddy was the first to adapt the clarinet to bebop, and served as an influence to players of the instrument for generations.

A professional by the age of 16 and a graduate of a music school in Philadelphia, Buddy got his start with big names such as Gene Krupa, Ted Fio Rito and Charlie Barnet.
