Why were we "off the air" for eight hours Thursday?

We're back up and running and I wish I could tell you what happened, but I don't know. However, I do know we'll be getting a bill from my programmer for putting things right.

If anyone feels inclined to chip in and help with this extraordinary expense (about two weeks net revenue up in smoke), we'd appreciate it. Every little bit helps a lot.

North Sea Jazz Festival,
The Hague, Netherlands, 1979

Houston native Arnett Cobb's most famous composition was “Smooth Sailing,” later famously covered by Ella Fitzgerald.

In the '40s he played with Lionel Hampton's band, and in the '80s he collaborated with another sax great, Joe Henderson. Nicknamed the “wild man on the tenor sax," one of his earliest bandmates was Illinois Jacquet.
