We love all the music, but as you've probably noticed we're partial to the hard bop Blue Note classics from the 1950s to 1970s. One of the gems from the archive.

Note: You don't need glasses...not all of our videos are crystal clear and this one isn't, but the music was too compelling not to share.

About this video:

Classic jazz?

Of course not!

But to borrow a line from the Art Ensemble of Chicago it's "great black music - ancient to the future."

It just doesn't get any better than this...

Rest in Peace Master Brown. Thanks for the good times. Thanks for the healing.

And thanks for giving a lot of jazz cats gigs...

"The name Chuck Brown might not mean a whole lot to people outside the Washington, D.C., area. That would be their loss. In D.C., Brown is widely known, even revered, as the Godfather of Go-Go, a title he's held since the late '70s. Though he started out as a jazz guitarist, Brown invented go-go, a style that incorporates funk, jazz, R&B, hip-hop and dancehall, and has mostly stuck with it ever since."
