Why were we "off the air" for eight hours Thursday?

We're back up and running and I wish I could tell you what happened, but I don't know. However, I do know we'll be getting a bill from my programmer for putting things right.

If anyone feels inclined to chip in and help with this extraordinary expense (about two weeks net revenue up in smoke), we'd appreciate it. Every little bit helps a lot.

Basie's Band -1950

Count Basie and his incomparable band perform in 1950.

Count Basie, piano
Wardell Gray, tenor sax
Buddy DeFranco, clarinet
Clark Terry, trumpet
Freddie Green, guitar
Jimmy Lewis, bass
Gus Johnson, drums

Drastically affected by the declining popularity of large orchestras, Count Basie was forced to disband his famous ensemble during the late 1940s.

Not one to easily accept defeat Basie rebounded with a smaller group consisting of between six and nine pieces in 1950.
