Why were we "off the air" for eight hours Thursday?

We're back up and running and I wish I could tell you what happened, but I don't know. However, I do know we'll be getting a bill from my programmer for putting things right.

If anyone feels inclined to chip in and help with this extraordinary expense (about two weeks net revenue up in smoke), we'd appreciate it. Every little bit helps a lot.

Duke Ellington recorded “Happy Reunion” a full decade before this performance. Prior to joining Duke band, tenor sax soloist Paul Gonsalves played with those of Dizzy Gillespie and Count Basie in the late '40s.

Gonsalves is often credited with turning around the career of Duke's band, with a stellar performance at the 1956 Newport Jazz Festival. To “Happy Reunion” he lent a sweet, almost innocent sound.
