Why were we "off the air" for eight hours Thursday?

We're back up and running and I wish I could tell you what happened, but I don't know. However, I do know we'll be getting a bill from my programmer for putting things right.

If anyone feels inclined to chip in and help with this extraordinary expense (about two weeks net revenue up in smoke), we'd appreciate it. Every little bit helps a lot.

Copenhagen, 1967

Here Duke Ellington really shows his range – slowing down the set to showcase his ability to play more seemingly introverted, modest arrangements for his set. It wasn't just about big band for this innovator in “jazz” – or what he simply liked to call “American music.”

Having proved savvy enough to keep a band together for decades, Ellington has the largest recorded set of original jazz compositions.
