Broadcast live in 1965

One of the most beautiful ballads of the post-bop era, Naima.

Written by John Coltrane for his then-wife Juanita Naima Grubs. (Glad he named the tune after her middle name!)

Coltrane recorded it a lot: First on Giant Steps and also on Live! at the Village Vanguard, The Complete Copenhagen Concert, Afro-Blue Impressions, and Live at the Village Vanguard Again!.

Along with Giant Steps, Naima is a core jazz standard.

John Coltrane, sax
McCoy Tyner, piano
Elvin Jones, drums
Jimmy Garrison, bass
