An star line up of musicans, George Cables, Jermy Pelt, Phil Ranelin, and Lenny white on drums, perform the title cut "Red Clay" in a performance to honor the memory and contribution of jazz great and colleague Freddie Hubbard who past in December 2008. The memorial concert was held at Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem on January 10, 2009.
