Before going solo, Hank Crawford was Ray Charles' musical director. By his 50s he was writing for Dr. John and played horns behind blues guitar giant B.B. King on King's album “There Must Be a Better World Somewhere.”
Written in James Johnson, Saul Bernie and Stella Unger, “Don't Cry Baby” has also been covered by Erskine Hawkins and Etta James. In 1929 Bessie Smith made its original recording.
