Two great guitarists play a rare duet
Jimmy Raney (1927-95) and Atilla Zoller (1927-98) were a pair of masterful guitarists who did not appear on film all that often.
While Raney came to fame first, playing with Stan Getz in the early 1950s, and Zoller did not start getting well known until the 1960s, they were complementary players who both came up with their own personal voices and ways of playing bebop.
This rare duet performance has Raney and Zoller stretching out on Cole Porter’s “I Love You,” sharing the lead, stretching themselves, and playing off of each other’s ideas in colorful fashion.
Personnel:
Jimmy Raney, guitar
Atilla Zoller, guitar
- Scott Yanow
