"Bolivia" was composed by Cedar Walton and "It Don't Mean a Thing" is a Duke Ellington composition.

Hard bop pianist Cedar Walton cites Bud Powell, Thelonious Monk, Art Tatum, and Nat King Cole among his early influences.

Originally from Texas, Walton attended Dillard University in New Orleans majoring in composition.

Moving on the University Of Denver he was encouraged to change his major to music education providing him with the tools to compose and arrange for many different instruments.

He joined Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers as a pianist and arranger during the early 1960s.
