The Crusaders: Live at Montreux 2003
Born in Houston, Texas in 1940, Wilton Felder was the tenor sax sound of the Crusaders.
Felder along with classmates Wayne Henderson, Joe Sample, and Stix Hooper founded the group while still in high school in Houston. (It was originally called the Jazz Crusaders. )
Felder was also a much in demand electric bass player and studio musician appearing on tracks by the Jackson 5 and Marvin Gaye as well as Billy Joel, Randy Newman, Joni Mitchell and many others. He was Motown's in-house bass player at their Los Angeles studio.
