When it came to playing New Orleans funk, few were on the level of the Neville Brothers.
Aaron (vocals) , Cyril (vocals and percussion), Charles (saxophones), and Art Neville (keyboards) originally came together in 1976 in a group led by their uncle Big Chief Jolly; two years later they made their first recording as The Neville Brothers.
The group was quite popular until its breakup in 2004 although there were occasional reunions into 2012.
“Hey Pocky Way” was one of the Neville Brothers’ more popular grooves.
This infectious version was performed on September 18, 1994 at the Farm Aid concert in New Orleans and features a fine sax solo from Charles Neville and some guitar fills from Eddie Freche.
