Cab Calloway was one of the most colorful and charismatic performers of the 1930s.
He made three films that were called “Hi-De-Ho” and this is the earliest one, dating from 1934, three years after he made the “Hi-De-Ho” phrase famous as part of his trademark song, “Minnie The Moocher.”
In this humorous short, Calloway magically appears whenever the wife of a train porter catches his band playing on the radio.
Along the way he performs “Harlem Camp Meeting,” “Zaz-Zuh-Zah” and “The Lady With The Fan.”
