Dennis Chambers has had a wide-ranging career ever since he joined Parliament/Funkadelic in 1978 when he was 18.

Since then, the powerful drummer has had many musical associations most notably with John Scofield, the Brecker Brothers, John McLaughlin and Carlos Santana.

On this concise drum solo from 1990, Chambers displays the architectural skill of a Max Roach, using space and dynamics to build up his impressive improvisation to an intense level.
