Eddie Vinson sings "Just A Dream" and "Person To Person."

"Just A Dream" was written and first performed by Eddie's friend and mentor, legendary bluesman Big Bill Broonzy, at Carnegie Hall's historic "From Spirtuals To Swing" concert in 1938.

Personnel:

Eddie "Cleanhead" Vinson, vocals
Cannonball Adderley, alto sax
Nat Adderley, trumpet
Joe Zawinul, piano
Sam Jones, double bass
Louis Hayes, drums

Eddie Vinson got the nickname "Cleanhead" when his hair was destroyed by lye while being straightened.

Vinson started out in the late 1930s with "Milton Larkin's orchestra" which gave him the opportunity perform alongside Illinois Jacquet, Arnett Cobb, Wild Bill Davis, and Cedric Haywood.

After leaving the band in 1941 Eddie embarked on a tour in the band of the immortal Big Bill Broonzy whose blues shouting style inspired him to take up singing himself.

He then moved to New York where he played with "Cootie Williams Orchestra" from 1942 until 1945 before assembling his own group.
