Eric Dolphy (1928-64) was one of the few jazz musicians to develop his own individual voice on three different instruments.

A master on alto-sax, flute and bass clarinet, Dolphy was always instantly recognizable and very original in his ideas and sounds.

This priceless half-hour television show from Sept. 5, 1961 features Dolphy on flute during “Left Alone,” romping on alto during “Miss Ann” and “G.W,” and playing bass clarinet on “Serene” and “God Bless The Child,” unaccompanied on the latter.

Dolphy is joined by trumpeter Idrees Sulieman (who is also in fine form), pianist Rune Owferman, bassist Jimmy Woode, and drummer Sture Kallin for a very good all-round showcase of his superb talents.
