A rare chance to hear Miles Davis talk about issues

For quite a few years, Miles Davis either refused to do interviews or gave interviewers a very hard time, not taking the questions seriously.

In the 1980s he mellowed to a certain extent, and was eager to talk about his music, race relations and his interest in painting.

This nine-minute segment, the first of three parts from a 1984 interview conducted in Europe, finds the great trumpeter in a relaxed mood, discussing a variety of topics with candor and thoughtfulness.
