Percussionist and post bop composer Joe Chambers was form Philadelphia but worked in Washington D.C. before moving to New York in 1963.

There he collaborated with jazz giants including Eric Dolphy, Freddie Hubbard, Bobby Hutcherson Joe Henderson, Wayne Shorter, and Sam Rivers throughout the 1960s.

In 1970 Joe became an original member of joined Max Roach's percussion ensemble, "M'Boom."

He went on to perform with jazz elders Sonny Rollins, Charles Mingus, and Art Farmer and formed the "Super Jazz Trio" with Flanagan and bassist Reggie Workman.

He has only released eight albums of his own beginning in 1974, but appears on countless recordings.

Although not a flashy player Joe Chambers is renowned for his dynamic control and versatility.
