Mary Lou Williams (1910-1981)

She wrote and arranged for Duke Ellington and Benny Goodman and befriended, advised and yes taught young Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk and I believe Bud Powell.

On this video, she's demonstrating her grasp of jazz piano history, but this is just a very, very narrow slice of her range.
