Nina Simone performs her famous anti-racism
protest song in 1992

A very talented singer, pianist and human rights activist, Nina Simone (1933-2003) fell into her own musical category.

In her career she performed jazz, folk music, rock, r&b, soul, spirituals and protest anthems, all in her own way.

Nina Simone, who was stopped by racism from pursuing her original dream to be a classical pianist, instead became a very popular and controversial performer who was at her prime in the 1960s.

This rare film clip from 1992 features her in excellent form during a stirring version of “Mississippi Goddam.”
