Ramsey Lewis performs his '60s chart topping hit, "The 'In' Crowd" at the Montreal Jazz Festival in 1980.

Personnel:

Ramsey Lewis, piano
Henry Johnson, guitar
Greg Williams, bass
Frank Donaldson, drums

Ramsey Lewis joined his first jazz group "The Clefts" in Chicago in 1950 when he was only fifteen. This was not surprising, he had been an avid piano student since he was four.

By 1956 Lewis had formed the Ramsey Lewis Trio a group originally featuring drummer Isaac Holt and bassist Eldee Young.

Holt and Young left to go solo in 1966 at which time they were replaced by Cleveland Eaton and Maurice White After 1970 the jobs were filled yet again with Frankie Donaldson and Bill Dickens.
