The bebop master plays one of his best compositions

Ever since he burst upon the scene in the 1970s, altoist Richie Cole has invigorated the bebop scene with his appealing tone, mastery of bop, wit, and willingness to stretch himself.

While Cole’s most famous recordings were in the 1970s and ‘80s, he has continued to play in top form during the decades that followed.

Leading a quartet in January 2009 that includes pianist Jeff Jenkins, bassist Ken Walker and drummer Todd Reid, Cole performs his lyrical “Tokyo Rose Sings The Hollywood Blues” with taste and beauty.
