More from the tenor giant of the ages

Coleman Hawkins...can we ever say enough about this giant?

"There were some tenor players before him, but the instrument was not an acknowledged jazz horn" - Joachim E. Berendt, jazz historian.

For forty straight years, from the time the music was in its childhood 1925 until it reached near-perfection 1965, he could hold his own with the best tenors on the planet. Lou Gehrig didn't have nothing on this dude.

From the early days, through Big Band, through Bebop and into the avant-garde, he was always right on it.
