Based on the sign on the stage it was recorded in 1987 at a jazz festival, possibly in Florida.

The tune "Lover Man" was written in 1941 by Jimmy Davis, Roger ("Ram") Ramirez, and James Sherman.

Billie Holiday, for whom it was written, made it a hit and her version was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1989.
