Why were we "off the air" for eight hours Thursday?

We're back up and running and I wish I could tell you what happened, but I don't know. However, I do know we'll be getting a bill from my programmer for putting things right.

If anyone feels inclined to chip in and help with this extraordinary expense (about two weeks net revenue up in smoke), we'd appreciate it. Every little bit helps a lot.

Supergroup: The Leaders

In the 1980s Chicago native Lester Bowie was part of jazz supergroup The Leaders. Bowie often associated himself with the experimental or the avant-garde, yet he would cover songs originally performed by highly mainstream musical acts such as Michael Jackson, the Spice Girls, Marilyn Manson or Whitney Houston.

Arthur Blythe, alto sax
Chico Freeman, tenor sax
Kirt Lightsey, piano
Cecil McBee, bass
Don Moye, drums
