Black History Month – Heritage: If You Are Really Concerned Then Show It – The Power of Jazz

“Heritage: If You Are Really Concerned Then Show It” is from Billy Taylor’s work Peaceful Warrior dedicated to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Taylor was commissioned by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra to write the tribute and was the first to be commissioned to do a work of this nature by them. The music features Billy with Chip Johnson on bass and Steve Johns on the drums, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and 130 voices of the Spellman and Morehouse College Glee Club and the Atlanta Center Community Chorus.

Following the tribute to Dr King is an interview with Billy Taylor about his relationship with King.
