Happy Birthday Bucky Pizzarelli

"In a Mellowtone" as played by the Bucky Pizzarelli Trio in 1986.

Personnel:

Bucky Pizzarelli, guitar
Milt Hinton, bass
Jake Hanna, drums

Bucky Pizzarelli is known for his chord solos and rhythm playing 7-string guitar, a habit he adopted from George Van Eps.

He has played with Benny Goodman, Les Paul and the Doc Severinsen Band, along with many others.

Bucky stated that Django Reinhardt was one of his strongest influences. Although the opportunity never came for them to actually play together, while serving in Austria during WWII, Bucky played with Django's violinist, Stephane Grappelli.

He has performed at the White House in Washington, D.C. three times, twice for Ronald Regan and once during Bill Clinton's presidency.

Bucky's sons followed in his footsteps, with John Pizzarelli on guitar and sometimes vocals, and his brother Martin Pizzarelli a double bassist.
