Bunky Green was born in Wisconsin, worked briefly with Charles Mingus, and moved to Chicago where he worked with greats lik Sonny Stitt, Louie Bellson, Andrew Hill, Yusef Lateef, and Ira Sullivan.
In addition to being a phenomenal composer and soloist, Green had an important creative and educational influence on some of the great altoists of our time including Steve Coleman, Greg Osby, and Rudresh Mahanthappa.
