Guitarist-banjoist Danny Barker (1909-94) had a wide-ranging career that included playing with Cab Calloway’s orchestra, working with his wife singer Blue Lu Barker, and spending his later years as an influential educator in New Orleans.
Chester Zardis (1900-90) was an important bassist in New Orleans with his prime years not beginning until the mid-1960s.
This timeless film clip from the late 1980s (taken from a documentary on Zardis) has the always-colorful Barker singing and playing guitar while joined by the bassist on two New Orleans favorites.
