Berlin, Germany, 1961

The "Eric Dolphy Quintet" perform in Berlin, Germany on August 30, 1961.

Written by Eric Dolphy for his 1960 album “Outward Bound”, “245” was actually the number of his house – and one of three of his own compositions to make it to the recording.

Bass giant Charles Mingus once remarked concerning Dolphy as a saxophonist that he was a “complete musician” who could “fit anywhere.” Mingus particularly praised Dolphy as a multi-instrumentalist.
