June 15, 1923 – January 2, 1977

Written in 1954 by Erroll Garner, “Misty” was first recorded in 1955, for Garner's album “Contrasts.” Johnny Mathis would make it his own signature melody and drag it all the way to the top of the U.S. pop charts by the late '50s. This performance was for a Belgian television show.

Other covers have included Billy Eckstine, Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald.
