An interesting film excerpt with two
of the great drummers

Gene Krupa and Jo Jones were two of the greatest drummers from the 1930s on, with Krupa coming to fame with Benny Goodman and Jones with Count Basie.

Krupa and Jones, who both had long and productive careers, later had a drum store where they taught young drummers.

This interesting film excerpt from the mid-1960s features Krupa talking about the early drummers who inspired him, his mid-1940s comeback, and his admiration for Jo Jones.

Jones is seen at a drum shop instructing a couple of young players, soloing a bit, and playing “Liza” with a quartet.
