Jazz on the Tube needs you

Our labor of love costs real money, about $1,500 a month in out-of-pocket expenses...

And that doesn't count the time put into sourcing videos, writing them up, and maintaining the world's biggest and most accurate database of jazz festivals, jazz clubs, jazz radio and jazz education on the Internet.

This July 4th week consider becoming a Friend of Jazz on the Tube.

Support Jazz on the Tube

Thanks for all your support in all the forms it takes!

Descanse En Paz "El Goyo"

The great Rumbero (Rumba performer) Gregorio Hernandez known as "El Goyo" passed away at his home in Cuba on January 8 after a stroke, at the age of 75.

El Goyo is probably best known as a singer, on classic performances like "Mayeya" from Rapsodia Rumbera but he was also an excelent dancer, percussionist, and teacher.

In fact during recent years he spent much of his time teaching at the Superior Institute of Art in Cuba as well as other art education centers around the world.

He was the founder of the Conjunto Folklorico Nacional dance group and was considered one of the essential figures of Rumba today.

Over his carrer "El Goyo" was recorded on more than twenty albums such as "The Spirit of Havana", which he did in colobration with Canadian artist Jane Bunnet.
