"Recorded In July, 1973 in St. Louis, Missouri under the sun"

Album" Under the Sun".

Originally self-issued and then picked up and distributed by Arista in those golden days when big labels actually supported musical exploration.

The tune the piece is based on comes from Afghanistan, heard on the radio once by one of the ensemble remembered, written down, and made the basis for this extended improvisation.

Lake and Bowie were members of the Black Artists Group (BAG) which fulfilled much the same function as Chicago's AACM (Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians.)

Great days which produced countless master musicians.
