Philadelphia native Stanley Clarke was a double-bass innovator perhaps best known for his work with Chick Corea in the group Return to Forever. His greatness stands alongside that of Jaco Pastorius.

Clarke would win a Grammy in the mid-'70s and Playboy magazine's nod as the "best" bassist for 10 years running. Clarke collaborated with such luminaries as Gato Barbieri, Art Blakey and Joe Henderson.
