Lead jazz bassist Wayman Tisdale performs live.
Wayman Tisdale, the son of a pastor, was born in Fort Worth, Texas.
Although he always considered music his first love he proved to be a exceptional basketball player at the University of Oklahoma and was picked by the Indiana Pacers in the 1985 NBA Draft.
He would play professionally for twelve seasons and in 1995 launched his music career as a bass player with influences including 1970s funk.
Wayman recorded eight albums in his career and scored a number one hit on the billboard chart with the release of "Face to Face" in 2001.
In 2002 the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame awarded him the Legacy Tribute Award.
After his diagnosis with cancer Wayman Tisdale released his final album "Rebound" in 2008 before passing away in May of the following year.
In 2009 he was inducted into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame.
