A soothing and beautiful ballad played by Shorter on soprano

Wayne Shorter has always been a true original with his own musical logic in his playing (on tenor and soprano saxophones) and as a composer.
While his most covered originals (including “Footprints”) were composed during the 1960s, Shorter has continued to write intriguing originals up to the present time.
He wrote the ballad “Diana” in the mid-1970s as a tribute to the daughter of Flora Purim and Airto.
This version from that era, a duet with pianist Mitch Forman, has Shorter displaying a beautiful tone on soprano and exploring a tune that is both complex and soothing.
