Why were we "off the air" for eight hours Thursday?

We're back up and running and I wish I could tell you what happened, but I don't know. However, I do know we'll be getting a bill from my programmer for putting things right.

If anyone feels inclined to chip in and help with this extraordinary expense (about two weeks net revenue up in smoke), we'd appreciate it. Every little bit helps a lot.

Karlsruhe, Germany, 1967

Here we can see Miles Davis' legendary Second Great Quintet at full blast. Davis would refer to their playing style as “time, no changes,” and the group managed to incorporate the sound of free jazz into a relatively leaderless structure.

Davis' increasing fascination with funk, soul and rock, however, would signal the death of the group. But drummer Tony Williams would stick with Miles a little longer, until the close of the '60s.
