Why were we "off the air" for eight hours Thursday?

We're back up and running and I wish I could tell you what happened, but I don't know. However, I do know we'll be getting a bill from my programmer for putting things right.

If anyone feels inclined to chip in and help with this extraordinary expense (about two weeks net revenue up in smoke), we'd appreciate it. Every little bit helps a lot.

Lateef born in Tennessee in 1920, his family moved to Detroit. By 18, he was playing professionally and was friends with fellow Detroit players Milt Jackson, Paul Chambers, Elvin Jones, and Kenny Burrell.

His big break came in 1949 when he joined the Dizzy Gillespie band,
