Review:

This is the one hundred fifty-fifth in a series of special Jazz on the Tube reviews of live stream performances.

Isaac Wilson, who was born and raised in Los Angeles, began playing piano when he was four and was originally self-taught.

He attended the New England Conservatory Of Music (studying with Fred Hersch, Jason Moran and Ran Blake), began performing at jazz festivals in 2015 and recorded his first album as a leader in 2018.

On his LiveStream from Sept. 10, 2020, Isaac Wilson begins with a Kurt Weill song, reharmonizes “Well Be Together Again” a bit (showing the inspiration of Ran Blake) which he plays in a medley with Herbie Hancock’s “Textures,” and comes up with fresh renditions of Chick Corea’s “High Wire,” “Always,” “Funny How Time Flies,” and Jobim’s “This Happy Madness.”
