Bassist Lisa Hoppe, who was born in Germany, splits her time between Brooklyn and Hamburg, Germany.

She has worked with other top improvisers including Rich Perry, Tyshawn Sorey, Ben Monder and Rudresh Mahantappa.

Her 2019 album with her group Third Reality, The Mighty Unlikely, did well and helped introduce her to American audiences.

Performing solo on this LiveStream from May 7, 2020, Lisa Hoppe plays a melodic and thoughtful ballad (“Volver”), “Bose Geister” which has her bowing her bass and improvising off of a five-note pattern, her original “It’s A Parallel Parallel World,” and switching to guitar and singing along on “Born 1929.”

Lisa Hoppe holds one’s interest throughout this fine solo concert.
