This is the one hundred seventy-fifth in a series of special Jazz on the Tube reviews of live stream performances.

Guitarist Mason Razavi earned degrees from San Jose State University and Berklee.

Based in San Jose, California, Razavi works regularly in the San Francisco Bay area and has recorded with organist Robert Kennedy’s trio and as a leader for the OA2 label.

While the latter mostly features mostly his original music for a quintet and a nonet, Mason Razavi’s solo LiveStream from June 1, 2020 has the solo guitarist playing pretty chords and swinging solos on a set of standards.

Such songs as “The Days Of Wine And Roses,” “I Guess I’ll Hang My Tears Out To Dry,” “Night And Day” Horace Silver’s “Peace,” “Satin Doll,” “In A Sentimental Mood,” and “They Can’t Take That Away From Me” benefit from Mason Razavi’s melodic and quietly inventive treatments.
