DOMi, Domitille Degalle (born March 2, 2000), grew up in France and was a music prodigy from the get-go. She started with a rigorous, traditional conservatory training.
JD Beck, James Dennis Beck (born May 3, 2003), grew up in Dallas and was discovered at a jazz session when he was 11 and was nurtured by the local Dallas jazz scene.
I’m afraid I don’t know who the drummer, the bass, and sax player are. I suspect this is from when DOMi was a teenager at Berklee before she adopted her stage persona and joined up with JD Beck.
The two met at a 2018 NAMM trade show and a jam that night sparked their partnership. JD was 15, and DOMi was 18. Jazz lives.
They have since been thoroughly discovered.

We found a very interesting interview with bassist Victor Wooten talking about his serious venture into playing bluegrass.
Trivia: People who lived in NYC in the mid-’70s will know there were more bluegrass clubs than jazz clubs. And the “BG” in the iconic rock club CBGB actually meant “bluegrass” (though there was never much bluegrass played there.)

I recently stumbled on two excellent books in one of those “take a book, give a book” boxes. One from 2000 on the Neville Brothers and one from 1976 on Cab Calloway.
I talk about the first one briefly and then do a short deep dive into the second one. Includes an excellent short archival film of Calloway and his orchestra performing, produced in the 1930s by Paramount.
