Review:
This is the first in what will be a series of special Jazz on the Tube reviews of live stream performances.
Support live music – even when it’s streamed!
Glen David Andrews is an exciting performer from New Orleans who plays rambunctious trombone and contributes personable vocals.
Born in the Tremé neighborhood, Andrews (the cousin of Trombone Shorty) gained a lot of experience playing with brass bands including with the New Birth, Li’l Rascals, ReBirth and Treme before becoming a popular bandleader himself.
During this lengthy and spirited performance from Mar. 30, 2020, Glen David Andrews leads a group consisting of two trombones (including his own), trumpet, guitar, tuba and drums, emphasizing colorful ensembles and his own vocals.
The music is full of joy, propelled by the excellent tuba player, with Andrews being heard throughout at his best.
