Taimane, who was born in Honolulu, started on the ukulele when she was five and has become a virtuoso on the instrument.

She was discovered by Don Ho when she was 13, studied with Jake Shimabukoro when she was a teenager, and was soon performing regularly in Waikiki, recording her first album when she was 15.

Taimane has led five albums so far, and worked in Japan and Hong Kong in addition to Hawaii.

On her LiveStream of Dec. 3, 2020, she is joined by rhythm guitarist Rachel Wood and effortlessly displays remarkable technique (putting her near the top of her field) while playing in a melodic and rhythmic style that looks towards classical music, flamenco, and fusion without really falling into any strict category.
