The Royal Krunk Jazz Orkestra was founded by trumpeter Russell Gunn in 2018.

Based in Atlanta, the ensemble combines together big band jazz with r&b and funk; they have released one album thus far: Get It How You Live.

Gunn has always been open to a wide variety of music and, while based in bebop and Charlie Parker, he has kept his ears open to newer sounds.

This intriguing LiveStream from July 25, 2020 features the Royal Krunk Jazz Orkestra with Gunn conducting and playing his electrified trumpet on several originals including “The Critic’s Song,” “Sybil’s Blues,” and “Lyne’s Joint.”

While often danceable, the colorful music also contains plenty of unexpected moments along with fine soloists and singer-dancer Dionne Farris.
